 ram opens with a nostalgic four-movement Violin Sonata by the iconic 20th 
 century French composer Gabriel Faure. The first movement carries an expan
 sive sonority\, intertwined with dazzling octaves. The second movement has
  a sentimental timelessness followed by a capricious and jovial (scherzo-l
 ike) third movement. The sonata then ends with a brisk and vibrant fourth 
 movement.\n        \n         The first half of the program ends with Poem
 e\, a rare gem from the  mid-nineteenth century Bohemian composer Z. Fibic
 h. It is truly an unpretentious and exquisite piece of violin literature.\
 n     \n         The second half of the program is drenched in the lusciou
 s imagery of yet another influential Bohemian composer\, Antonin Dvorak. T
 his sonatina has a youthful and potent character\, strongly evocative of t
 he vigorous and charming slavic dance rhythm.\n       \n         E.Elgar S
 ospiri was written as a pair of works with his signature miniature piece\,
  Salute D'amor. At the time of completing Sospiri\, the world had plunged 
 into madness of the World War. Sospiri\, tears of love\, carries a poignan
 cy and significance far different from what Elgar had intended.\n	\n      
    The evening ends with Bohemian composer B.Smetana's My Homeland\, a set
  of two-movement work modelled after his orchestral tone poems. The first 
 movement is saturated with a charming and luscious tonal language quintess
 ential to late Romantic violin music. The second movement carries a gleami
 ng slavic folk-tuned melody that culminates into a dazzling coda in the fi
 nale.\n\n         Join me for an evening of violin music in this cafe and

 ite No. 2 in A minor\, where storytelling takes on the shape of Baroque da
 nce\, full of life\, wit and reflection.\nPart II - Encountering Fate\nBac
 h's English Suite No. 3 in G minor returns to that same courtly language i
 n a darker key\, before a set of Medtner's Skazki ("Tales") - some of the 
 most explicitly narrative pieces ever written for solo piano\, though what
  tale each one tells is left entirely to the listener. The evening closes
