Seattle Volunteers

Haeyoon Shin is an active performer and teacher in the greater Seattle area, having returned home after receiving her Artist Diploma at Yale University School of Music as a part of the prestigious studio of Aldo Parisot. She was an avid chamber musician at Yale as an active member of several chamber groups. Her piano trio had been selected to perform at the prestigious Vista Chamber Concert, after having been selected from several nominated groups throughout Yale. She has been invited to the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, the Great Mountains Chamber Music Festival, and was an inaugural member of the Birdfoot Chamber Music Festival. She's had masterclasses with members of the most prominent chamber groups such as the Tokyo String Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, and the St. Lawrence String Quartet.Having begun her piano studies at age two, she was given the cello at age 9. Soon after beginning her cello studies, she formed her first chamber group with her siblings; a string trio. She won the Regional Solo & Ensemble Competition at the high school level 5 years later, followed by a series of first prizes at the Renton Young Artists Competition, the Marjorie Easley National Strings Competition, and the Individualis International Competition. She earned her Performers Diploma at Indiana University, Bloomington receiving the Eva Heinitz Scholarship under the tutelage of Janos Starker, and attained her Bachelors Degree from the University of Washington under Toby Saks. She received her Masters Degree from the Hartt School of Music with a full scholarship.

I've been in the world of classical music, as a singer, since age 10, and am now expanding into other musical realms. Groupmuse is a gem of an organization and concept, and I'm passionate about bringing it into living rooms and lives of young people!
