 ames Jaffe\n\nThe Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival kicks off the return
  of live music at The Century Club of California.\n\nJoin us for a concert
  that captures the intimacy of living-room concerts in the elegant space o
 f a turn-of-the-century ballroom. Violist Paula Karolak and pianist Ian Sc
 arfe perform Benjamin Britten's Lachrymae\, a work that blends Renaissance
  antiquity with 20th-century modernism. Scarfe will join cellist James Jaf
 fe for music of Beethoven\, the first composer to bring the cello into the
  conversation\, when it comes to chamber music. The strings will offer a 2
 012 work by Caroline Shaw\, limestone & felt\, and then the three musician
 s will come together in an arrangement of the Trio in A Minor by Johannes 
 Brahms. \n\nThe Century Club is a historic women's club that has been a pl
 ace for music and culture in San Francisco since the 1890s. The musicians 
 will utilize the Julia Morgan enhanced  ballroom in several different ways
  for this concert. The smaller works will be held in the center of the flo
 or\, with the audience surrounding\, for a casual and intimate look at the
  conversations taking place. The larger works will move to different areas
  of the room\, culminating in a dramatic performance that will utilize the
  main stage in the room as well.
