  is also currently in the same D.M.A. program for violin\, so two big deal
 s\, and as far as important things about the composers or these pieces\, I
  think the best way to describe the importance of these two pieces in juxt
 aposition is what playing those pieces says about the performers. When you
  tackle the first Beethoven violin sonata\, or the first Beethoven piano t
 rio\, you might be a plucky and precocious music student anywhere from 12-
 15\, or giving it a polished treatment at 21\, or you're Menahem Pressler 
 and Henryk Szeryng in your 40's\, 50's\, or 60's trying to say something n
 ew with it as a full adult. Tackling the Schumann A minor and the Prokofie
 v F minor seriously from pieces like early Beethoven\, as a classical musi
 cian\, is like going from playing golf in Norman Levy park for fun\, and t
 hen attempting to compete in the US Open. It's a big deal\, and they're bo
