 **Aspect Chamber Music Series** have once again invited our Groupmuse comm
 unity to a fantastic evening of Night Out programming\, this time featurin
 g the works of **Brahms** and **Mendelssohn**.  As is the wonderful practi
 ce of Aspect Chamber Music events\, this program will be accompanied by an
  illustrated talk\, this time with Swedish pianist and music scholar **Per
  Tengstrand**.  Tickets to this program\, a steal at $20 for Groupmuse mem
 bers\, also include complimentary wine.\n\nMore about this program: \n\nBr
 ahms and Mendelssohn both wrote impressive works for the grand concert hal
 l\, but their chamber works take us into their secret hearts. When Brahms 
 began work on his *C minor Quartet*\, he was still struggling with the imp
 act of his mentor Robert Schumann’s final descent into madness\, and wit
 h his intense but complicated feelings for Schumann’s widow Clara. By tu
 rns stormy\, achingly tender\, and haunted\, this work sounds very like th
 e lonely cry of a wounded soul. Mendelssohn’s F minor Quartet was compos
 ed in stunned grief after the shockingly premature death of his beloved si
 ster Fanny. If at times it seems close to breaking point\, that may be a s
 imple statement of fact: Mendelssohn himself died just two months after fi
 nishing it. But at its heart is a song of pure love\, perhaps the tenderes
