She finds unique joy in performin g complete collections of works such as the 24 Liszt Etudes or the entire Well-Tempered Clavier by Bach. Her emotionally charged and colorfully nuan ced performances have gained her the admiration of audiences and resulted in many repeat engagements.\n\nAsiya\, a pianist and composer\, draws her musical inspiration from the legacy of Dmitry Shostakovich\, having studie d composition under his direct disciple\, Albert Leman. Asiya's live performances of these compo sitions have astounded audiences and organizers alike.\n \nCaring about th e development of society\, in 2017 Asiya founded [Music for Minds](http:// www.musicforminds.org/)\, a non-profit organization that brings classical performances into classrooms and creates music festivals featuring unique programming. From 2017 through 2019\, Asiya directed her brainchild Festiv al Baltimore\, a two-week chamber music series and summer academy dedicate d to the performance and study of complete cycles\, one of Music for Mind' s projects. In just three years\, the festival solidified itself as a high ly original music series and academy\, presenting a wide array of styles a nd performers.\n \nBorn in Izhevsk\, Russia\, to a musical family\, Asiya began learning the piano at 4 years old from her mother Soreya\, her first piano teacher. At the age of 6\, she was taught to read music in orchestr al clefs by her father Sergey\, an exemplary composer\, and started compos ing her own music. At 9\, she made her orchestral debut\, playing Mozart's Concerto No. 8 with her own cadenza\, and gave her first full philharmoni c recital.\n \nSimultaneously\, she began studying composition with Albert Leman\, the chair of Moscow Conservatory's composition department and a s tudent of Dmitry Shostakovich. She continued working with him until his pa ssing in 1998. That short period has influenced all future aspects of her musical and artistic development.\n \nAs a result of her early bond with c omposition\, Asiya appreciates new music. In Russia\, she premiered three piano concertos by Vladislav Kazenin and Shamil Timerbulatov\, performing with the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra\, the Saint Petersburg Capella Symph ony Orchestra\, the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra\, and the Tatarstan Nation al Symphony Orchestra. In the U.S.\, she has premiered various works by Mi chael Daugherty\, Thomas Sleeper\, and Orlando Garcia\, among others.\n \n Throughout her early years in Russia\, Ms. Korepanova received various awa rds for her prodigious abilities. These include the Russian Federation Pre sidential Award for Exceptional Achievement in the Arts\, the National Awa rd from the Republic of Udmurtia (2002)\, the Germany Berliner Salon Award (2003)\, the Russia Youth Triumph Award (2005)\, and the title of Honored Artist of Udmurtia (2009).\n \nIn 2012\, Asiya moved to the United States at the invitation of renowned pianist and maestro Santiago Rodriguez\, to earn a doctoral degree under his guidance at the University of Miami. Lat er that year\, she was awarded the Gold Medal at the Nena Wideman Internat ional Piano Competition — an achievement that proved invaluable in estab lishing her concertizing career in the U.S. In 2017\, she added a Universi ty of Miami Artist Diploma degree to her portfolio\, having earned it in t he studios of Kevin Kenner and Tian Ying.\n \nAsiya has since continued to garner national attention with performances at Stern Auditorium at Carneg ie Hall\, the Phillips Collection\, and many other notable recital series\ , symphony orchestras\, and festivals throughout the country. She has been featured on CNN\, NPR stations\, WFMT\, and WETA.\n \nIn 2023\, Asiya emb arked on a monumental project in celebration of Rachmaninoff’s 150th bir th anniversary\, performing his complete solo piano music in six recital p rograms throughout the United States. She premiered her latest transcripti on — the *Manfred* Symphony by Tchaikovsky\; toured performing Clara Sch umann's\, Grieg's\, and Rachmaninoff's piano concertos\; and anticipates t he releases of scores of her compositions: the *Poéme* for alto saxophone and piano and *Con Brio* for two pianos\, as well as transcriptions of wo rks by Mussorgsky\, Franck\, Amy Beach\, Fauré\, Berg\, and Bach.\n \nAsi ya and her husband Dmitry reside in a forest-rich Boston suburb\, where sh e has unlimited time and hours of the day to practice or listen to music. She is an avid runner and hiker\, and an advocate for a healthy lifestyle. \n\n**About Jonathan DePeri**\n\n**Jonathan DePeri** founded [Gotham Arts] (https://gothamarts.net) in 2014 to promote and present classical music ar tists through recitals in intimate and convivial settings\, providing a st age for music and artistry that might otherwise not be heard in NYC. A cla ssically trained pianist\, organist\, and violinist\, Jonathan concertizes with a variety of vocal and instrumental collaborators\, in particular fo cus on the German and Russian art song repertoire\, folk music including e specially African-American spirituals\, and chamber music. In 2018 he was named Honorary Assistant Organist at St. John’s in the Village for his o ngoing contributions as organist to both concert and liturgical musical pr ogramming.
