 om/)**:\nBased in New York City\, South Korean violinist **Katherine Kyu H
 yeon Lim** has been presented by acclaimed organizations such as Banff Cen
 tre for Arts and Creativity\, Chamber Music America\, House of Yes\, Inter
 national Contemporary Ensemble\, Joe’s Pub\, (Le) Poisson Rouge\, Luzern
 e Music Center\, Metropolis Ensemble\, The Juilliard School\, Prague Conse
 rvatory\, and Music Technology at Mason Gross. Lim’s early performing ca
 reer\, starting at the age of 10\, mainly took place in South Korea\, Czec
 h Republic\, Germany\, and the UK. Her debut album\, *Starling* (2023)\, w
 as picked album of the day on Bandcamp Daily\, picked best new song on Pas
 te Magazine\, and premiered on Deepest Currents. **Lim** is co-founder of 
 Impromptuo and Muzosynth Orchestra (formerly the Moving Orchestra)\, both 
 of which focus on performing free-form improvisation. She was also foundin
 g member of the Unison Quartet\, prize winners at the Bartók World Compet
 ition in 2021. **Lim** is current faculty member at Opus 118 Harlem School
  of Music and Noel Pointer Foundation\, as well as former faculty member a
 t Luzerne Music Center\, New Amsterdam School and Kneisel Hall Adult Chamb
 er Music Institute. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The
  Juilliard School and is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at R
 utgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts.\n\n🥁 About **Tate Ben
 son**:\n**Tate Benson** (he/they) started playing Pungmul in 2021 with a c
 rew of other Korean Queer and Trans folks who offer our presence/playing a
 t actions in support of Black Liberation\, BIPOC and multiracial communiti
 es of color\, immigrant/undocumented\, houseless\, and disabled communitie
 s\; and especially Queer\, Trans and Gender Non-Conforming communities of 
 color. Pungmul is an indigenous farmers’ tradition of Korea that include
 s drumming\, dance\, rituals\, singing\, and storytelling. There are 4 mai
 n percussive instruments representing elements of a storm - wind\, lightni
 ng\, thunder and rain. The philosophy of pungmul is one of unifying people
  and nature\, and as queer and trans Koreans\, we bring the rhythms of pun
 gmul to rallies and actions. We move in the spirit and lineage of farmers\
 , student resistance movements\, and other dissenters who moved before us.
  Tate enjoys playing the buk and being in breath with those that he plays 
 with. He has played in spaces such as for Healing Justice Lineages\, Moim\
 , Ropes and Rhythms\, and casually with friends and community members. You
  can also find him nerding out about cartoons\, therapy\, so many forms of
  creation including queerness.
