 Groupmuse](https://www.groupmuse.com/) is delighted to present an intimate
  private recital by [Sooyun Kim](https://www.sooyunkim.com/) & [Kenneth We
 iss](https://www.kennethweiss.info/) featuring selections from their own a
 rrangements of Bach trio sonatas for flute and harpsichord. A French-style
  two-manual ("double") harpsichord will be provided specially for the occa
 sion.\n\nThe recital will be followed by a launch party celebrating the re
 lease of the duo's new album "Confluence".\n\n**Program**\n\nSelections fr

 t Sooyun Kim**\n\nPraised as "a rare virtuoso of the flute" by Libération
 \, Sooyun Kim has established herself as one of the rare flute soloists on
  the classical music scene. Since her concerto debut with the Seoul Philha
 rmonic Orchestra\, she has enjoyed a flourishing career performing with or
 chestras\, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony\, Munich Philharmonic\, M
 unich Chamber Orchestra\, and Boston Pops. She has been presented in recit
 al in Budapest's Liszt Hall\, the Kennedy Center\, Sibelius Academy in Hel
 sinki\, and Kobe's Bunka Hall. Her European debut recital at the Louvre wa
 s streamed live on medici.tv. A winner of the Georg Solti Foundation Caree
 r Grant\, she has received numerous international awards and prizes includ
 ing the third prize at the Munich ARD International Flute Competition.\n\n
 She makes frequent appearances at music festivals like the Music@Menlo\, S
 poleto USA\, Yellow Barn\, Rockport\, Olympic\, Charlottesville\, Ravinia\
 , and Tanglewood festivals. Her special interest in interdisciplinary art 
 has led her to collaborate with many artists\, dancers\, and museums aroun
 d the world such as Sol Lewitt\, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum\, and
  Glassmuseet Ebeltoft in Denmark. An Artist Member of the Chamber Music So
 ciety of Lincoln Center\, she studied at the New England Conservatory unde
 r the tutelage of Paula Robison. In addition\, she studied baroque dance w
 ith Melinda Sullivan. She teaches summer courses at Orford Musique and was
  recently appointed Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Cinc
 innati’s College-Conservatory of Music. Kim plays a rare 18-karat gold f
 lute specially made for her by Verne Q. Powell Flutes.\n\n**About Kenneth 
 Weiss**\n\nBorn in New York\, Kenneth Weiss attended the High School of Pe
 rforming Arts as a pianist before discovering his passion for the harpsich
 ord and the lesser-known repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. A form
 er student of pioneer Gustav Leonhardt\, he is based in Paris\, France.Ken
 neth Weiss has worked as a a soloist\, accompanist\, vocal coach\, opera c
 ontinuist\, chamber musician and conductor performing extensively in Europ
 e\, North America and Asia. The New York Times has praised his performance
 s as "ear-catching\, graceful and edifying."\n\nA regular performer with t
 he Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center\, Kenneth Weiss has received hi
 gh acclaim for his recordings of Bach’s Goldberg Variations\, The Art of
  Fugue\, the complete Well-Tempered Clavier\, Rameau opera and ballet tran
 scriptions\, several Scarlatti albums\, and two recordings devoted to Eliz
 abethan keyboard music: A Cleare Day and Heaven & Earth.\n\nWeiss has taug
 ht at several prestigious music schools\, including the Juilliard School i
 n New York\, the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo\, and the Geneva Haute
  Ecole de Musique de Geneve. He is currently a professor of chamber music 
 at the Paris Conservatory.
