DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Lisa E.\nMusicians: Alisa Rose and Tristan Scroggins\
n\nHappy New Year! We're delighted to bring you the award-winning duo of S
croggins & Rose on Saturday\, January 17 at 7 p.m. in our Noe Valley home.
\n\nThis unique\, compelling evening of mandolin and violin/fiddle will be
a treat for the ears! This is our second time hosting this duo!\n\nScrog
gins & Rose are a genre-blurring mandolin and violin duo known for their d
eep musical chemistry\, expressive storytelling\, and joyfully intimate pe
rformances. Blending classical nuance\, folk traditions\, bluegrass energy
\, and improvisation\, their music feels at once refined and welcoming —
perfectly suited to the close-listening magic of a Groupmuse concert.\n\n
The program on January 17th will center on music from their recent album "
Speranza" — a collection born during the pandemic and shaped by themes o
f hope\, resilience\, and human connection. Speranza (Italian for “hope
”) features original compositions alongside reimagined traditional melod
ies\, weaving lyricism\, rhythmic drive\, and spontaneous interplay into a
deeply personal musical conversation.\n\nYou're in for a treat! Combining
two lifetimes of commitment to craft\, technique\, and stylistic integrit
y\, Scroggins & Rose create imaginative contemporary roots music with the
expression and detail of classical music\, the ebullient drive of fiddle m
usic\, and the thrilling virtuosity of both traditions. \n\nNashville base
d mandolinist Tristan Scroggins\, who frequently plays at the Grand Ole Op
ry and who was honored with a nomination for the International Bluegrass M
usic Association's Mandolin Player of the Year Award in 2021\, was Grammy
nominated for his work on The John Hartford Fiddle Tune Project\, Vol. 1.
Bay Area violinist Alisa Rose was Grammy nominated for her work with Quart
et San Francisco\, has served as an Ambassador of the State Department wit
h the Real Vocal String Quartet\, and teaches at the San Francisco Conserv
atory of Music.\n\nHere are some videos of Scroggins & Rose:\n\nhttps://yo
