This February, Groupmuse and the Brooklyn Historical Society are teaming up to produce a totally unique event for Black History Month!

The beloved Groupmuse veteran musician geniuses Warp Trio have designed a powerful program that blends the classical music form with a contemporary and vocal twist-- they'll be including pieces from African-American composers and lyricists including Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Maya Angelou, Harry Burleigh, and Langston Hughes.

Their typical ensemble of violin, piano, and cello will be expanded to include the cajon (played by Rick Martinez), bass (played by Evan Canon), spoken word and rap from the featured emcee of the night, LikWUid, and song from featured vocalist Sylver Wallace.

This program is a pretty significant variation on how we normally do the massivemuse, and we are thrilled to use the Groupmuse platform to promote the contribution of composers and artists who are not generally included in the Western classical music canon.

Be sure to come and check out what is sure to be a beautiful night with a jam-packed performance at a wonderful cultural/historical beacon in Brooklyn! There will be drinks available to purchase at BHS, and the music will start around 7:30/7:45 PM.

See you there <3
