 obably the most famous moment of music in the history of the West. But the
  thing is\, it's loud and it's big and it just doesn't fit in a living roo
 m so for all of thousands of pieces of classical music that Groupmuse has 
 presented\, we've never once gotten the chance to share this War Horse of 
 War Horses with our crowd.\n\nWell. Thanks to our wonderful friends at **t
 he Oakland Symphony**\, we've gotten that chance with a big\, fat Groupmus
 e Night Out. **Their opening night is October 20th** and we couldn't be mo
 re grateful that they're bringing us along.\n\nIf you've never heard the 5
 th symphony in its full enormity\, you've got to be there. That famous fou
 r not bah bah bah buuuum is **obsessively** drilled in\, wound around\, st
 acked on stacks of itself\, and powers the whole manic masterpiece until t
 he brilliant and exuberant finale breaks through like the sunshine.\n\nAnd
  that'll be just the first half! The second half will feature **Shostakovi
 ch's 15th symphony** - a piece that could hardly be more different than th
 e first and was the final symphonic work of a super genius who'd fully mas
 tered the symphony in the 20th century just as Beethoven had in the 19th C
 entury.\n\nTickets are on average $50 at the door\, but because it's Group
 muse and fortune smiles upon us\, you can be part of this monumental openi
 ng night for $20.
