    Now that the dust has settled on our enormous and sold-out Opening Night Out with the Oakland Symphony, we’re back with a more intimate offering from our beloved friends at San Francisco Performances - the organization that has ensured that world class touring classical artists always make a stop in the Bay Area.

    SFP - as they’re known by their friends, such as ourselves - is bringing through super-virtuoso violinist Leila Josefowicz, accompanied by pianist John Novacek, to share a far reaching program in the legendary and beautiful Herbst Theatre.

    In addition to playing before many of the leading symphony orchestras in the world, Josefowicz has the distinction of being a leading advocates and apostles of new music. John Adams has written pieces for her. Esa Pekka Salonen has written for her. And on.

    So while her program definitely has a couple golden oldies (Sibelius's Valse Triste, Prokofiev's F minor Violin Sonata) - she’s matched them with a couple pieces of a more new-fangled variety - John Adams' Road Pictures and Bernd Zimmerman's Sonata.

    Anyhow, tickets are typically from $45 to $65, but because fortune smiles upon us, we’ve got a stack for a Groupmuse Night Out at $20 — but supplies won’t last!
