Host
Guitarist David McLellan will perform works old and new. Throw off the winter chill with the warm sounds of works by Villa-Lobos, Albeniz and more. Arrive around 4pm - I will provide hot cider, coffee, tea and cookies to enjoy before and after the concert. Feel free to bring a different beverage of your choice.
What's the music?
I. Warmup: a diverse mashup of short pieces including The Mysterious Barricades by Francois Couperin, The Maid with the Flaxen Hair by Claude Debussy and others.
II. The British Are Coming: collection of works by John Dowland played on 7-string guitar, and the Theme and Variations by Lennox Berkeley.
III. Spanish Dance and Song: works by Isaac Albeniz
IV. Brazilian Fire: works by Heitor Villa-Lobos
V. Good Night: Somewhere Over the Rainbow, arr. Toru Takemitsu.
