This past August, we hosted a sold-out Massivemuse featuring Beethoven’s enormous and masterful late string quartet, his opus 130, featuring the original finale, the Große Fuge, which is a piece of folkloric significance in the Groupmuse-iverse.

Well, we’re back for another Op. 130 Massivemuse, only this time, it'll be with Beethoven’s replacement finale. His contemporaries weren’t so hot on the thorny, massive fugue, so in a rather uncharacteristic move, he pulled it and replaced it with a glittering dance movement, full of whit and vitality.

As luck would have it, our friends at the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival have put together a group of some of the best young musicians in town to tell the tale of Beethoven’s op. 130, with its alternate ending - the director’s cut, if you will - and they want to Massive. So we’ll Massive.

San Francisco’s Century Club of California has made its lovely and cozy drawing room available to us - it’s got a big fireplace for a roaring fire and plenty of comfy couches and carpeted floorspace to 'muse in style.

The event starts at 2pm on Sunday and Lagunitas is sponsoring the event with their delicious beer for free, so join us for a big-hearted and toasty warm midwinter fireside Massivemuse, with everyone’s favorite grouch of a genius Ludwig Van Beethoven.
