Thursday Night in the Parisian Belle Époque: A Groupmuse Night Out

From about 1871 to the outbreak of the first World War was a period of relative stability and prosperity in Europe, and, especially in Paris, it saw an unprecedented outpouring of creativity, expression, and art. So flush with beauty were those days that the era is known to history as The Belle Époque.

And, thanks to the hard work of our friends at San Francisco Performances, on Thursday, April 12th, The Belle Époque is coming through San Francisco. And, thanks to SFP's boundless generosity, Groupmuse is invited!

We'll gather in the beautiful Herbst Theatre, truly a masterpiece of Belle Époque expression in its own right, to hear tenor Nicholas Phan, backed by pianist Myra Huang, regale us with tunes and tales from that magical era.

An internationally renowned singer who's sung at many of the world's great opera houses, Phan has prepared an evening of French Art Songs from those fruitful years - among them, song cycles by Claude Debussy and Erik Satie.

It'll be an evening of poetry and music that'll conjure the spirit of a bygone era and will weave our present more meaningfully into history, at a time when we could really stand to remember the beauty of ages passed to hopefully suggest the splendor of what is yet to come.

Typically, an evening of such sublime sound will run an average of $55, but because it's Groupmuse after all, we've scored a stack for $20 a pop -- well over half off! But our quantities are limited, so hop on board!
