Hi!
I'm Lena, an overly cheerful pessimistic extrovert that loves hosting social events in my home. My boyfriend David and I, along with our two cats #DumplingTheCalico and #WontonTabby, live in a gorgeous 1600 sq ft loft turned photography studio that once was a Cotton Mill Factory. We have 100 yr old hard wood floors and floor to ceiling windows. It's beautiful during the day; more average at night. The Christmas lights along the giant windows are stellar though.
This is my first time hosting a GroupMuse, but definitely not my first time hosting at my place.
David and I love meeting new people - and I definitely need more music in my life. Gone are the days this Chinese girl played piano and violin.
Please join us Thursday May 24th for an evening filed with music from 16th and 17th century England, performed in 'broken consort' with viola da gamba, baroque violin, and quinte.

What's the music?
Dance, Prayer, and Fantasy: an exploration in music from Renaissance England. The evening starts off with an introduction to the 'In Nomine' — a meditative, polyphonic prayer that weaves around a plain-chant cantus firmus. Our course then shifts from the sacred to more secular music for socializing and intellectual pleasure, including ayres and fantasies for two and four parts, and for the finale - a raucous piece used in Shakespeare's "Love's Labour's Lost." See and hear how music from seven composers who lived at the peak of the age of discovery, played on period instruments is both mesmerizingly alien and profoundly familiar.
