San Francisco Performances

A hundred years ago this year, Igor Stravinsky, arguably the dominant figure of 20th century classical music, changed the game once again with his Histoire du Soldat or A Soldier's Tale -- a story of a runaway soldier, his fiddle, and The Devil. It's not just a ballet, it's not just a play, and it's not just a piece of revolutionarily great music — a bubbling hybrid jazz and classical, but it is also all those things. Mostly it's just Stravinsky at the height of his powers.

And, lucky for us, our wonderful friends at San Francisco Performances, who have, for decades, brought the finest talents the world over through this great city, are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky’s masterpiece and they want us to come along for our first Night Out of the Season!

A violinist, a double bassist, a clarinetist, a bassoonist, a trumpeter, a trombonist, and a percussionist, led by conductor Valerie Sain-Agathe, and accompanying narrator Nicholas Phan — all talents that lead their generation — are here to transform us with an evening of epochally great art.

Tickets typically average $50, but this IS Groupmuse after all, and SFP is seriously good people, so we’ve got an insanely discounted stack for a mere $20 — over half off! But the supplies are limited, so if you want to join, make haste!
And have a great Night Out!
