Hard as it is to believe and with no intent to offend, there was a time when New York City wasn't the musical capital of the world. A coupe hundred years back, many would lay that title at the feet of Vienna -- where Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven, and Brahms all made their mark.

For our next Night Out, our beloved friends at the Aspect Foundation of Music and Arts will take us back there, with an exploration of a golden moment in the life of that European capital -- the late 1780's -- with J. Haydn's stately op. 50/2 String Quartet and W.A. Mozart's impossibly perfect Clarinet Quintet, often referred to as his greatest chamber work.

Aspect is busting out the big guns for this one: We'll start with an illustrated talk by the award-winning broadcaster, WQXR's Elliott Forrest, to set the historical and cultural context before the deep dive. The musical journey is illuminated by the Orion String Quartet - Artist Members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and among the most celebrated string quartets in the world. For the Mozart, they'll be joined by Alexander Bedenko, a rising super-star of the clarinet.

As always with Aspect, tickets come with free wine and tasties at intermission and before the show, so get there on time!

The list price is $45, but because Aspect loves us and we love them right back, we've got a stack for $20 -- but it's limited so jump on it now and we'll see you in Vienna!
