A mezzo-soprano voice is a rare and sublime thing. It doesn’t reach the heights of the soprano voice, but it makes up for it in richness, body, and texture. And of course, the greatest diva in the whole operatic literature, Carmen, is known by her mezzo-soprano voice and where would we be without Carmen?!
Our wonderful friends at San Francisco Performances, who work doggedly to bring the worlds finest talents through our Bay Area, are proud to present one of the greatest mezzo-sopranos working today - Jamie Barton. And they want us to join for a Night Out!
Backed by pianist Kathleen Kelly, Barton has put together an brilliant and important program — one focused on great but historically neglected female composers, presented alongside their far more celebrated male counterparts.
Amy Beach, Elinor Remick Warren, Nadia Boulanger, Libby Larsen - names nowhere near well-enough known grace the program, coupled with long-time beloveds Ravel Haydn, and Richard Strauss.
The sounds and splendor run an average of $50/ticket, but this is Groupmuse, isn’t it? So we’ve got for you a stack for a particularly sweet holiday discount at $15! But supplies are limited, so make your move!
And have a great Night Out!
