About

After many years as a guitar player in various outfits, I decided it was time to focus on what I really felt I that loved and was missing in my musical vocabulary. Classical piano, and composition, had always been fascinating to me, and yet I continued to tell myself for many years that it was too late to take up the discipline with any seriousness. A few years ago I decided that it actually wasn't too late at all, and each day that I fantasized about rather than worked at it was a day lost toward attaining musical freedom at the piano. I found that, even with a comparatively elementary technical proficiency to that which I possessed on guitar, I felt able to convey rich, deep musical expression. The great masters have provided many lifetimes of incredible, inspired work to study and enjoy at the piano. It is a journey that I have fallen in love with, which continues to evolve each day.

Music

I have always shy'd away from playing that is too loud, too frenetic or academic, greatly favoring softer, blurry textures and sombre expression than excessive flights of virtuosity. The musical equivalents of Monet, Whistler, Renoir, if you will. The late romantics, and early impressionists, the eternal musical mastery that was being crafted in France and Russia between the late 19th and early 20th century, are what captivated me as a teen, and still remain as objects of great love and fascination of mine.
