About

"Subtly poignant, elegantly funky, and haunting without trying to be…A voice that must be heard to be believed.”
— Nels Cline (Wilco/Blue Note)

Vocalist Edda Glass and guitarist Max Hatt bring their “elegantly funky” vibe to jazz and bossa nova, including classic repertoire, original songs, and the occasional prairie-jazz reinvention of pieces like “Wichita Lineman.” Having played on NPR, PBS, and at venues including Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center, they now return to celebrate the music that informs and inspires their original work: jazz, and especially bossa nova, Glass's particular muse.

“These shows give me the opportunity to pay homage,” Glass says. “These are the songs that have taught me and continue to teach me—how to sing, how to interpret, how to find those deeper regions of a song."

“You cannot confuse her with another artist,” writes The New York Theatre Guide, while NPR Music’s Ann Powers tags Glass's unmistakable voice as “beautiful… #chills.”

Music

We play jazz and Bossa Nova, particularly the work of Antonio Carlos Jobim. Other composers include Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin, and others. At least as important are the performers who pioneered this intimate side of jazz— people like João Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, Nara Leão, Baden Powell, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Keith Jarrett, Paul Desmond, Chet Baker, and others.
