Jiusi Zhang is currently a candidate for the Master of Musical Arts degree under Prof. Wei-Yi Yang at the Yale School of music, where he was awarded the Elizabeth Parisot Prize for Outstanding Pianist upon earning a Master of Music degree in spring 2026. Born in 2002, he began his musical journey at the age of four in his hometown Langfang, China. Throughout his teenage years, piano remained a personal passion rather than a professional pursuit, with most of his training consisting of private lessons in his hometown. It wasn't until 2020, at the age of eighteen, that he began formal and intensive musical study upon his admission to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he studied with professor Dang Thai Son. He graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Music degree. Recent accolades include First Prize at the 2025 Lancaster International Piano Competition, 2024 Tuesday Musical Association Scholarship Competition, and 2022 PianoTexas Concerto Competition.
