It is my greatest pleasure to bring you this program, presented by multi-talented vocalist, writer, and poet, Jasmine Wilson as well as myself on piano!
The two of us planned performances in France that would have happened right about now. So we thought we'd do a virtual idea instead, complete with evocations of melodic Chansons, Edith Piaf, Quincy Jones (in hommage to his travel studies with Nadia Boulanger), and much more!
Expect some extemporaneous costumes and set design, so come one come all!
A portion of the proceeds will be going to a charity supporting Black Lives Matter!
Program
Satie: Gymnopedie No. 1 (for piano)
Debussy: "Beau soir"
Fauré: "Après un rêve"
Gounod: "Que fais-tu, Blanche Tourterelle?"
Intermission
Improvisation on "Milord" (famously sung by Edith Piaf)
"Chile" by Jasmine Wilson herself!
Improvisation on "Ai No Corrida" arranged by Quincy Jones
Song from "Cheri", a musical in the works by Jasmine and Joey

Look forward to the recording. Bumps happen to everyone, even the best!

Really wanted to enjoy this experience with both of you. Thank you for trying to make it happen live. Such a nice idea. Maybe pre-record things next time? Live Streaming takes tremendous bandwidth.

Thanks to EVERYONE attending today, and again, apologies for the technical bumps, I know it was frustrating - I'll be troubleshooting to figure out what went wrong with my setup, but in the meantime, I'll be working with Jasmine to see if we can re-record some of the music today for you (recording at least is something we are very experienced with). Please send me a message over Groupmuse, and you can go to my Groupmuse profile for that, if you'd like the videos that we create to be sent to you. Thank you
