During my 40-years of teaching piano, I've noticed a commonality with all my students. If they tell themselves they can't play a difficult passage, there's nothing I can do to override their thoughts and help them play it. The most important part of any music lesson is teaching my students tricks to open their mind to what they really can achieve that allows them to express their true music talents. It's my favorite part of teaching.
