We made it to the other side of 2020! Join us for a strange interlude of musical fun times and delightful tale-telling as we celebrate with Liza Wallace's Sonata for harp and cello "Al otro lado" ("On the other side"), which was written for Strange Interlude. We'll also look towards a brighter future as we present our first performance of Anthony R. Green's anti-45, anti-fascism work "...and suddenly it appeared..." which the composer describes as "quiet resistance music," and incorporates inspiration from Calypso music and the work of composer and filmmaker Ed Bland.
These works meld the fiery and the contemplative, the intimate and the expansive, and we'll round out the program with a few additional works that embody these qualities by the inimitable Heitor Villa-Lobos and everybody's favorite minimalist Arvo Pärt.
What's the music?
Arvo Pärt: Spiegel im Spiegel
Anthony R. Green: ...and suddenly it appeared...
Heitor Villa-Lobos: Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5: Aria
Liza Wallace: Al otro lado
