ABOUT:
Alfredo Colon is a New York City native. The saxophonist was born to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic and grew up in Washington Heights. He studied under musicians such as Lee Konitz, Jason Rigby, Steve Wilson and Jacob Sacks

Alfredo specializes in the use of the electronic wind instrument ( EWI ). He can be seen performing on it regularly with his band Secret Mall as well as several other groups.

The saxophonist has performed with musicians such as Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Nels Cline, Chad Edward Taylor, Gene Lake, Kenny Grohowski, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jason Rigby, Jacob Sacks and many other esteemed musicians. He has also performed at venues such as The Jazz Gallery, National Sawdust, Birdland, The Appel Room at Lincoln Center, The Louis Armstrong House, SOUTH Jazz Kitchen and several music festivals such as Afropunk Music Festival, The Composers Now Festival, The Outsiders Creative and Improvised Music Festival.

Colon was awarded the Jazz Coalition Commission Fund Grant in early 2020. His piece ‘A Witch Gets Married’ premiered online on October 2020.

LOCATION:
We will meet at The Rose Garden, in the NORTHEAST SECTION of Prospect Park in Brooklyn (closest to Flatbush Avenue and northeast of Vale of Cashmere).

WHAT TO BRING:
BYOB. Be sure to bring a blanket or beach chair to sit on. Casual dress. Bring a $20 for our musician.

RESTROOM:
Located southeast of Prospect Park Carousel, close to Flatbush Ave and Ocean Ave, inside Prospect Park.

COVID PRECAUTIONS:
Vaccinations are required to attend, so if you're not fully vaxxed, please plan to get yours prior to this event. We encourage attendees to wear masks when joining the group, although you're free to take yours off once seated. You will be asked to sign a liability waiver at the event.

COST:
It's $5 to reserve your spot. We'll be collecting $20 for Alfredo at the performance.
