This is a groupmuse

A live concert in a living room, backyard, or another intimate space. They're casual and friendly, hosted by community members.

Host

Tin Yi (Chelsea) Wong will perform her upcoming Flower Piano program:

Ligeti: Etude no. 4
Liszt: Ballade no. 2
George Crumb: selections from Makrokosmos II
Bach: Chaconne in D minor, arranged for left hand by Brahms

What's the music?

"Drama and Ritual"

Opening with an offering of Ligeti Etude No.4 "Fanfares", an exercise not only for the fingers, but also for the mind. As we switch to Liszt Ballade No.2 in B minor, hang tight on this dramatic love story between Hero and Leander, and the dangerous waves that separates them.
Then, we savor some fantasy pieces after the zodiacs from George Crumb's Makrokosmos II, absorbing its ritualistic and contemplative nature, as well as the scope for all things larger than life. Ending with Bach Chaconne for Left Hand, a set of 64 variations that are each 4 measures long, to explore the infinite ways of dramatizing daily rituals that seems to repeat, just never quite the same way.
