I'm looking forward to hosting classical guitarist Paul Sessoms with a thrilling program exploring improvisation in classical music. Improvisation has been amply used in the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary eras not only through composition but also through performance practice. Composers such as Regondi, Haydn, and Bach relied on improvisation as a way to compose. Improvisation is a very personal way of performance that showcases the performer's unique qualities within certain confines. Paul's own improvisations draw from jazz and contemporary music, which provide a modern take on this age-old practice.
What's the music?
