Carl Gutowski and Keng Siong Sim form a flute/piano duo dedicated to performing classical chamber music, with an emphasis on underrepresented composers. Classical music has been rightly criticized for its historic lack of representation of various groups, including BIPOC and women composers. We will perform great works by overlooked composers over the history of classical music. Evening includes light POTLUCK dinner buffet

Kim Siong Sim won the WIPAC International piano competition in 2012, among numerous awards, and has attracted large, musically aware audiences for years. Carl Gutowski is a flutist with deep roots in Washington, DC, where he lived and taught for many years at Georgetown Day High School. He performs regularly in solo and chamber music settings. Highlight performances over the past few seasons include return engagements at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.

This is the 80th SOLOX concert at the Red Lantern at Milo, since 2010, and the 31st with GroupMuse. EXPECTING 10-15 PAID ATTENDEES.

Light PotLuck Dinner Buffet. Host will provide two hot hors d'oeuvres & punch for potluck reception during intermission & beginning, when doors open. Guests please bring potluck dish to share and wine if you use it, if considering a sweet, perhaps fruit instead of processed sugar. Music begins 30 minutes after doors open, please be on time, 2 sets with 1 short intermission, or one longer set. Guests most welcome and encouraged to bring dish/drink to share/potluck, please consider bringing wine if you use it. Stemware/Ice Buckets/Filtered Water Provided.
