This is a Groupmuse Night Out

Explore the wider world of music outside Groupmuse with exclusive discounts to local concerts.

We all know that summer is a fallow time for the concert scene here in the big city, so Nights Out offerings tend to be fewer and farther between. But this summer, our wonderful friends at Riverside Church, that looming gothic masterpiece that bedizens the upper west side skyline, have prepared what they’re calling The King of Instruments Summer Organ Series — five performances featuring their humbling and sublime pipe organ — one of the grandest in the whole world — which they’ve appropriately termed the King of Instruments. The series’ first installment is coming up, and they’ve summoned us to join for a Night Out!

It’ll be Christopher Creaghan, director of music and organist at Riverside Church and one of the most accomplished organists in this city, delivering an awe-inspiring program of JS Bach, Max Reger, Olivier Messiaen and more.

He’s on at 7pm, but if you show up at 6.30, you’ll be treated to another brief recital — this time on the carillon (an instrument built of bells) with George Matthew, Jr.

We’ve got a discounted stack of tickets for only $15 (and $10 for Supermusers) but supplies are limited, so get yours now!

And have a great Night Out!
