I am very excited to host the husband-wife duo, pianist Allegra Chapman and cellist Emanuel Evans. Allegra is currently a member of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, and was previously a member of the Delphi Trio. We are in for a real treat, with music of Beethoven, Schumann, and Fanny Mendelssohn.
Please arrive by 5PM, music will start shortly thereafter. And please bring masks, and wear them for the entire concert.
The donation for the musicians is $25.00/person.
What's the music?
Cellist Emanuel Evans and I are a married couple and have been playing together ever since we first met in music conservatory many years ago! This program includes one of the first pieces we played together, Beethoven's A Major cello sonata, which we studied with the legendary cellist of the Guarneri String Quartet, Peter Wiley. We are thrilled to perform this joyful piece together again. We've paired it with several short romantic works for piano and an imaginative piano piece by young renowned composer and Bay Area-native, Gabriella Smith.
Fanny Mendelssohn: 5 Songs for Piano, Op. 6 (selections)
Johannes Brahms: Intermezzo in A Major from Klavierstücke, Op. 18
Gabriella Smith: Imaginary Pancake
Robert Schumann: Fantasiestücke, Op. 12 (selections)
Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 3 in A Major, Op. 69
