Celebrating the intimacy of piano writing at its most imaginative, I invite you to join me in my 86-year-old wonderment at being able, at last, to really play the piano, whose magic I have loved since early childhood.

What's the music?

Haydn, a total original in every respect, invites the piano (and you!) to laugh and to cry, without warning. Schumann, another original, didn't let a single sound get past him unobserved. He, too, dares us. I dare you!

Where does this music come from?

Both composers celebrating the piano as a new invention, with sounds as yet unheard and unimagined. My goal in performing is to reinvent that spirit.
