Hosts

The HÜMNKIND C. Co-host

We’re so excited to be blending worlds and building new ones in the name of beloved community and that ineffable grace we call Jazz.

HÜMNKIND + GROUPMUSE.

The Hümnkind Collective is a cluster of social clubs that hold space for people to connect in deep and wholesome ways — through their group hikes, through their write club, and now through our first ever Hümnmuse, where we bring together Groupmuse’s culture of soulful listening and Hümnkind’s ritual of interpersonal sharing.

This’ll be like a regular Groupmuse, except at intermission, those who want to will break into small groups, and we’ll share earnestly and honestly about life, where we’re at, and how the music we’ve all experienced has landed and shaped us.

More than anything, the Hümnkind Collective is about building real community around heart-centered ritual, and Groupmuse is about very much the same. So naturally, we’re joining forces to build our more beloved and beautiful world, and we hope you come along!

ABOUT THE SPACE.

Lucky Cat Labs was founded in 2015 as a place where artists are encouraged to express themselves through a diverse array of mediums and find inspiration and support in conversations with other creators. This location is our biggest endeavor yet -- 22 creative studios overlooking a massive fine art gallery in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.

The acoustics in this vast building are pleasantly church-like. Soft, quiet melody has space to converse with itself in gentle echoes, and loud, passionate music joyfully resounds through the main space and fills many quieter nooks and crannies. Guests are encouraged to explore the gallery throughout the evening, and enjoy our rotating monthly art exhibits.

ABOUT THE MUSIC.

Randal Fisher is a Los Angeles-based tenor saxophonist. He's played with the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, Aloe Blacc, Ethio Cali, Carlos Niño, Dexter Story, and worked with Kamasi Washington, Moses Sumney, Miguel Atwood Ferguson, Rocky Dawuni and other artists in the Los Angeles music scene for over 20 years.

He'll be joined by three other musicians in a quartet for an evening of improvisational jazz that's sure to delight.

ABOUT THE EVENING.

Doors open at 7:30, program starts around 8:15.
