Please welcome Evan Kahn, cellist, and Amy Zanrosso, pianist, for an afternoon of Beethoven, Glazunov, and Britten!

What's the music?

Pianist Amy Zanrosso and cellist Evan Kahn invite you to spend time with them exploring the wonderful world of C major. Containing no sharps or flats, C major is usually considered to be an uncomplicated key, but don’t be fooled by this apparent simplicity. Few people know that it’s one of the hardest scales to play well on the piano and that many ground breaking compositions have utilized the key to make their point. From Beethoven’s game changing Sonata No. 4 to Britten’s story-laden and only sonata for cello and piano, C major will unite the players, the music and the audience in exploring just how radical this key can be. (Admitting there will also be a little D major Glazunov for added effect.)
