What's the music?
In this concert Scroggins & Rose will share works from their upcoming EP Lux (2024) in which they explore new sonic possibilities with baritone mandolin and violin. This EP is inspired by humanity’s many months of collective isolation during the pandemic and subsequent emergence.
They will also improvise imaginatively on fiddle tunes, and play selections from their chamber folk compositions which blend classical music's detailed expression and counterpoint with fiddle music's rhythm and freedom.
Where does this music come from?
Combining two lifetimes of commitment to craft, technique, and stylistic integrity, Scroggins & Rose create imaginative contemporary roots music with the expression and detail of classical music, the ebullient drive of fiddle music, and the thrilling virtuosity of both traditions. The duo was awarded the Freshgrass Album Fund for their album, Curios, released in 2020, and a grant from Intermusic SF for their upcoming release in 2024.
