I'm happy to welcome Juan Calderon on guitar for an evening of beautiful music.
What's the music?
This concert features solo guitar music I have written in 2024 and during a two-month residency at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, New Mexico in 2023.
Where does this music come from?
My music is rooted in the classical and jazz traditions. Some people have said they can hear some Brahms. There is a strong influence of Villalobos, Scriabin and J.S. Bach. Keith Jarrett is a big influence as well as Bill Evans, coming from the jazz tradition. There are also elements of Flamenco from early repeated listening to masters such as CamarĂ³n. There is also some influence of Japanese music from having listened to Gagaku for a few years.
