An Evening with Verdi's Requiem
Soprano: Claire Kutler
Mezzo: Vita Koreneva
Tenor: Chad Kranak
Bass: Kofi Hayford
This is an intimate, abridged performance of one of the most beloved and dramatic works in the classical repertoire — Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem. Written in 1874, it is a piece that defies easy categorization: technically a Mass for the Dead, but unmistakably the work of a great opera composer, full of passion, sorrow, and soaring beauty.
Rather than presenting the full work, tonight's performance focuses on the solo arias and ensemble pieces — the moments where the music is at its most intimate and human. Accompanied by piano and performed in a relaxed, informal setting, this is an opportunity to experience Verdi's extraordinary writing up close: the aching tenderness of the Lacrimosa, the luminous Lux aeterna, and some of the most ravishing quartet writing he ever composed.
Whether you are a longtime admirer of this music or coming to it for the first time, you are warmly welcome here.
