Trace a rich and unexpected musical lineage with Groupmuse Nights Out, offering discounted tickets to "From South to North: The Hispanic and Indigenous Influence on Early American Music" on Friday, May 15 at 7:30 PM at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church. Presented by Gotham Early Music Scene, this evocative program journeys across centuries and continents—from the great cathedrals and missions of Latin America to the early musical life of California—revealing how sacred traditions took on new life through Indigenous voices, local rhythms, and cultural exchange.
Performed by the acclaimed early music ensemble El Parnaso Hyspano, joined by soprano Erinn Sensenig and instrumentalists from Ars Poetica, the evening brings to light rarely heard repertoire shaped by the Spanish Golden Age and the vibrant musical cultures of Bolivia, Peru, and beyond. With texts in Spanish and Indigenous languages such as Quechua and Nahuatl, this program offers a deeply textured listening experience—where history, identity, and artistry intertwine. With Groupmuse Nights Out discounted tickets, step into a sound world both ancient and newly rediscovered, where the voices of the past resonate with striking immediacy. 🎶
