What's the music?
🇺🇸 America250 🇺🇸
This program brings together more than a century of American music, featuring works composed between 1900 and today by artists with distinct and compelling voices. As varied as the nation itself, these selections reflect the richness, complexity, and creativity of the American experience.
Juneteenth and Independence Day share a powerful connection. While July 4 celebrates the nation's founding and its enduring ideals of liberty and self-determination, Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865 - the day news of emancipation finally reached enslaved people in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Together, these milestones tell a larger American story: one of expanding freedom, ongoing progress, and the determination of generations who worked to bring the nation's founding promises closer to reality.
Join us for an inspiring musical journey through America's past and present, celebrating the diverse voices, histories, and traditions that continue to shape our shared future.
