Where does this music come from?

My program celebrates the unparalleled genius of Frédéric Chopin, a composer who redefined the piano’s expressive potential. This selection showcases Chopin’s mastery in blending profound emotional depth with staggering technical virtuosity across a diverse range of forms. From the intimate, lyrical grace of the Valse Op. 64, No. 2 and the hauntingly melancholic Albumleaf, to the folk-inspired delicacy of the Mazurka Op. 17, No. 4, we glimpse Chopin’s private poetic world. In contrast, the Scherzo Op. 31, Ballade Op. 23, and the heroic Polonaise Op. 53 reveal his dramatic power and structural innovation, demanding both athletic prowess and sensitive storytelling from the performer.
