Hosts
We are thrilled to bring violinist Artem Kolesov to our home for an evening of music for violin and piano.
Kolesov, described by the Chicago Tribune as “a violinist of fine promise,” was born in Maloyaroslavetz, Russia, won international competitions in Tallin, Estonia, and Freiburg, Germany, among others, and performed with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic at age fifteen.
The evening will consist of one of my favorite pieces: the Frank Violin Sonata, plus a set of show-stoppers perfect to celebrate The Day of the Dead:
Paganini “caprice no. 24”
Dédé “Mephisto masque”
Saint-Saëns “Danse macabre”
Tartini “Devil’s trill” sonata (Kreisler version)
