Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective brings an adventurous program to Philadelphia’s Perelman Theater on Wednesday, October 28 at 7:30pm, pairing music that is brand new with one of chamber music’s most beloved classics. The evening opens with the U.S. premiere of Anna Clyne’s Horn Quintet, featuring virtuoso horn player Ben Goldscheider, alongside Ethel Smyth’s Horn Trio. After intermission, the ensemble turns to Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet—a sparkling, endlessly inventive work inspired by Schubert’s own song about a fisherman, a trout, and an unfortunate aquatic encounter.

It’s exactly the kind of programming that makes chamber music feel alive: a little unexpected, deeply musical, and equally interested in discovering what’s next and revisiting what has lasted. Through Groupmuse Nights Out, you can experience this PCMS concert with discounted tickets, making an evening with one of London’s most exciting chamber ensembles considerably easier to say yes to.
