October Song Fest brings together the full expressive range of the human voice in a festive concert-cabaret of opera, art song, musical theater, and popular music. Soprano Brooke Schooley, contralto Vira Slywotzky, and bass Patrick Scully span the vocal spectrum in solos, duets, and trios, accompanied by the virtuosic pianist David Sytkowski. The program travels delightfully from Mozart and Verdi to Purcell, Duparc, Rodgers, Sondheim, and Ukrainian composers Volodymyr Ivasiuk and Kostiantyn Dankevych—classical song with a little more sparkle, variety, and theatrical flair than your average recital.
