What happens when two instruments meet? Folie à deux—French for “the madness of two”—explores the surprising intimacy, tension, vulnerability, and joy that can emerge between just two musical voices.
Curated by Rafael Popper-Keizer, this vivid program brings together six striking duos for violin, viola, cello, and marimba, pairing every possible combination of the four instruments. Hear shimmering stillness in Akshaya Avril Tucker’s Breathing Sunlight, playful textures in Caroline Shaw’s Limestone and Felt, the mournful beauty of Osvaldo Golijov’s Mariel, and the profound gravity of Penderecki’s Ciaccona, alongside works by Fabian Otten and Paul Wiancko.
An evening of contemporary chamber music that is intimate in scale but expansive in sound—and Groupmuse has discounted tickets available through our Nights Out program!
