Kaufman Music Center and the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music present The Anthology of Art Song by Black Composers, a thrilling program celebrating the extraordinary contributions of Black American composers to classical music. Grammy-nominated baritone Joshua Conyers, acclaimed soprano Kiera Duffy, and BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Nicole Cabell join Eastman students for an evening of works by Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, William Grant Still, George Walker, and many others.

Drawing on African American spirituals, folk traditions, poetry, and lived cultural experience, these songs expand and transform the European art song tradition into something distinctly American.
