Multi-Grammy-nominated PUBLIQuartet brings its genre-blurring, improvisational energy to Kaufman Music Center with Rhythm Nation, a celebration of American rhythmic traditions and the stories carried through them. The program moves from the jagged, propulsive grooves of Daniel Bernard Roumain’s tribute to Malcolm X to the cosmic sounds of Sun Ra, the soulful lyricism of Duke Ellington, and music from Fodé Lassana Diabaté’s Sunjata’s Time. Expect classical technique, jazz, improvisation, and a whole lot of rhythmic energy from a quartet praised by The Washington Post as “a perfect encapsulation of today’s trends in chamber music.” 🔥🎶
