Thus program is a dramatic journey through the depths of human emotion, woven around the themes of loss, memory, and above all, the irrepressible urge to live.
The journey opens with the timeless clarity of Mozart, offering pure light before plunging into the shadows and solemnity of Liszt’s Fantasy and Fugue on the Theme of B-A-C-H—a monumental work of devotion and gravity.
At the heart of this path lies Lebanon, represented by the Variations on a Theme of Jean Langlaisby the French-Lebanese composer Naji Hakim. Written especially for me, this piece is a vibrant tribute from a student to his master, revisiting Langlais’s Prélude modal through ten variations of impressionistic inventiveness and subtle elegance. It beautifully embodies the spiritual tension between loss and memory, so central to the Lebanese soul.
Finally, light and vital energy triumph with Brahms’s First Sonata. A monumental work of his youth, it overflows with passion, contrast, and an orchestral power that celebrates the ultimate victory of life over darkness.
