Resonance on Riverside #2

Hi there!
I love being part of the Groupmuse community and am excited to host what will be my 3rd event. I'm a long time lover of classical music and house concerts and have hosted similar events even before I knew about Groupmuse. I have great memories of playing clarinet in my college orchestra, and I am an amateur pianist with particular fondness for Chopin.

For this event, we'll be treated to a special evening called the Art of Listening. After a “cold opening” performance of a work by award-winning pianist Javor Bracic (www.javorbracic.com), audience members are invited to jump in with in-the-moment thoughts and impressions. Building on the audience’s insights, Javor will skillfully facilitate a discovery of the work’s emotional narrative and its underlying theoretical concepts, illuminating the poetry, nuance, and daring innovation that give the composition its power. A discussion of historical, cultural, and biographical context offers further dimension, and poses questions about how and why the piece might still be relevant to our lives today. After the discussion, the piece is performed a final time in order to allow the audience to listen and experience it in an entirely new way.

I’ll be providing light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, and please note that we will be taking our shoes off when entering the apartment!
