Host

Greetings musers!

I look forward to welcoming you back to my quirky abode for this special Groupmuse featuring Alisa Rose and Tristan Scroggins, virtuosos on violin and mandolin, respectively.

With a shared background in traditional folk, bluegrass, and classical styles, they love to mix genres and improvise with playful, musical sparring. They have a full collection of new tunes to share so it should be an exciting performance!

As always, the cat overlords have agreed to sequester themselves in my bedroom for the evening and I’m also fastidious about cleaning up their hair offerings, however, you may want to take precautions if you are afflicted by feline allergies. In other words, Sudafed-up if you need to.

Feel free to BYO food and/or drinks as you please. I’ll have some of each to share and additional contributions are admired but not required.

The entrance to my home is up one full flight of stairs which may present a challenge for some guests. I am more than happy to make whatever reasonable accommodations I can if you anticipate this being an issue, including having you arrive prior to the posted start time if you have mobility issues and someone who can assist you up the stairs. Please message me privately to discuss.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

What's the music?

Scroggins & Rose violin and mandolin

Award-winning instrumentalists and composers Tristan Scroggins and Alisa Rose have created music that explores both the dynamic capabilities of a string duet and the creative overlap between baroque and bluegrass improvisation. With vast experience and knowledge of both traditional folk music and classical styles they create new music that utilizes risky improvisation and innovative musical techniques that are captured in both the original and familiar tunes. While Tristan and Alisa’s virtuosic musical skills and creative chemistry are immediately apparent, at the core their music is deeply rhythmic and soulful.
