Historical context

Considered by many to be the hardest piece in the solo cello repertoire, this giant of a solo sonata is comprised of heart-achingly beautiful Hungarian folk tunes, raucous Hungarian dance motives, and more cellistic pyrotechnics than you’ll find at a circus. Truly one of the most epic solo sonatas ever composed!
